UNIQO runtime now available for Linux Debian 10

Corrado Pavan    Freitag, 8. Januar 2021

The UNIQO platform has been extended and now includes support for Linux Debian 10 operating systems on x86 architectures.

The version is available from the download area of the UNIQO website.

The UNIQO online documentation has been updated and contains all the information related to the requirements and the instructions for installation and use of the License Manager for license activation.

UNIQO Runtime for Linux Debian 10 supports ASEM platforms as well as third party platforms, subject to verification that the minimum requirements are met.

New Serial Port object

Corrado Pavan    Freitag, 18. Dezember 2020

Have you ever had to connect your HMI to systems with a serial communication interface and proprietary communication protocols? The need is common in the case of devices with dedicated electronics for which proprietary communication solutions have been chosen. From version 1.0.32 UNIQO includes a software module for the simplified implementation of serial communication protocols, both binary and ASCII. Simply add to the project the "Serial Port" module available from the list of available protocols.

The object has properties for the configuration of the communication parameters of the serial channel and displays all the necessary interfaces to program in C# the reception and sending of messages both in request/response mode and in event mode typical of barcode or RFID readers.

Interfaccia grafica Web HTML5

Corrado Pavan    Mittwoch, 16. September 2020

Being able to develop a cross-platform operator interface is a fundamental requirement for machine builders.

Starting from version 1.0.27, UNIQO HMI supports the creation of HMI applications accessible from any device using a simple HTML 5 browser.

Many products available on the market propose solutions exclusively based on web architectures, such as HTML 5, CSS, and JavaScript.

UNIQO HMI instead was born with an idea of platform-independency much deeper and intrinsic in the basic architecture.

UNIQO HMI allows creating HMI applications for ARM and x86 architectures, with Windows and Linux operating systems, natively supporting the different platforms.

The graphic rendering engine of UNIQO HMI guarantees a high-quality user experience on all systems, especially on installations where low-cost and limited performance embedded solutions are often chosen.

Finally, the support for the realization of web interfaces is fundamental for the creation of graphic visualizations in ASEM RM2x IIoT Gateway systems that do not have a screen and therefore cannot take advantage of the native UNIQO HMI interface.

This addition makes UNIQO HMI a complete product to create optimized visualization solution for any device from embedded to mobile.

New Trend Control

Corrado Pavan    Donnerstag, 25. Juni 2020

The Trend control for displaying the trend of variable values over time has been completely revised to improve usability and add new features.

The new Trend control now supports the use of separate scales for each curve, enabling the automatic adjustment of scale limits based on the value assumed by the variable. For better viewing, each scale can be individually adjusted using multi-touch gestures such as drag and drop and pinch to zoom.

Tapping or clicking on the curve points enables the view of a tooltip displaying useful information.

The XY Trend control for displaying polygonal points and curves has also been improved. You can now interactively edit polygonal vertices at runtime with the convenient drag and drop gestures.

Backup and Restore embedded database

Corrado Pavan    Mittwoch, 3. Juni 2020

UNIQO HMI supports data storage both on relational databases through ODBC connectors, and on embedded databases, which also offer all the necessary reliability features. Embedded databases are easy to use and occupy limited resources, making them an ideal solution for applications on entry-level HMI panels.

An efficient mechanism has been introduced to back up embedded databases and restore them during project execution. Through hot backup, the data can then be stored in a different location from the device on the field.

HMI project transfer via USB

Corrado Pavan    Mittwoch, 27. Mai 2020

In many situations, often due to mass production or remote assistance, it can be very convenient to transfer the HMI project to the machines on the shop floor via a USB removable device.

Q Studio now supports the ability to export the HMI application to a USB stick or even simply to a local folder that can be conveniently copied to an HMI or an IPC on the field.

Creating Reports in UNIQO HMI

Simone Mori    Dienstag, 25. Februar 2020

Creating reports of production or process data is a requirement of many HMI applications. With version 1.0.17.x onwards of UNIOQ HMI, we have introduced the possibility of creating reports with a highly customizable layout with numbers, images and tables.

These tables can be associated with multiple databases with their respective queries to extract required data. The configuration of reports can be completely dynamic at runtime as any other UNIQO HMI features.

Reports are saved in a PDF format which is handy for exporting and printing.

New features in UNIQO HMI for importing PLC variables

Simone Mori    Montag, 17. Februar 2020

To design a highly dynamic HMI, it can be very useful in certain scenarios to be able to import PLC variables at runtime without necessarily doing so at design time. Such operations are usually done using a file exported by a PLC programming software at design time.

UNIQO HMI is now able to obtain the list of variables for TwinCAT and Siemens TIA Profinet protocols at runtime; filters can be applied (for example, by name) to these variables to select the necessary ones for the application.

Finally, a retentivity storage can be very useful to maintain the imported variables after the next restart so they aren’t imported each time.

Usability and stability

Simone Mori    Montag, 27. Januar 2020

The release candidate 1.0.15.50 of UNIQO HMI available for download from today, focuses on the general improvement of the user interface of Q Studio and therefore the general usability of the tool.

Only to cite a few, a new starting page displaying the most recent projects have been added, the interface has been localized in Italian, the deployment target configuration settings page has been reorganized and various improvements have been made to UI controls and their properties. Significant changes have been added based on results from internal testing and user reports.

New Release Candidate

Simone Mori    Donnerstag, 3. Oktober 2019

In the latest Release Candidate 1.0.8, we have added reusable confirmation dialogs. These dialogs provide the option to specify, for example, only a message or different actions to be run based on the screen from which they are invoked.

This mechanism is based on the new MethodInvocation object. View the documentation for MehtodIvocation at the following link:

Introducing UNIQLOUD

Alberto Riccio    Montag, 27. Mai 2019

UNIQLOUD is the name of the Asem's Cloud platform that includes and supports the UBIQUITY teleassistance service, identity, and device management.

All the existing UBIQUITY domains have been automatically extended to UNIQLOUD domains and automatically support all the new services and functionality.

Today, the integration and rollout of all the users and domain for the product sites of UBIQUITY and UNIQLOUD have been completed successfully. These sites now allow the creation, correct management, and authentication, including a second security factor, of UNIQLOUD users and domains. Authenticating with a UNIQLOUD user unlocks access to reserved functionality.

Access to the Help and Download sections require authentication (contact asem@asem.it to request access). All UBIQUITY related content is available without authentication.
